We both come from the beautiful island of Sicily, raised only a few hours apart and surrounded by the same traditions, family values. But our story actually started years before our first date… even if it didn’t quite look like a love story at the time. In 2013, when Brenda had just moved to the United States from Italy, she spoke very little English and was trying to navigate a brand-new world. The school introduced her to the only other Italian-speaking student they knew — her future fiancé. The hope was that Giuseppe would help translate, guide her, and help her feel more comfortable. However, like many 13-year-old boys, he wasn’t exactly thrilled about the responsibility and quickly disappeared, leaving her standing in the courtyard by herself. Safe to say… it was not love at first sight.

Life went on, and eight years passed without either of them knowing that our paths would cross again in a completely different way. In 2021, what started as a simple coffee date quickly turned into something neither of us expected. From the very first conversation, there was an effortless comfort between us. For the first time, we were speaking with someone our own age who truly understood our background, culture, and experiences. Naturally, slipped into speaking Italian — the language of our childhoods. One coffee date turned into many, and before long, we soon realized that we had found something truly special.

One of the most meaningful parts of our journey has been traveling together, especially visiting the places that shaped who we are. Two years ago, Brenda and Giuseppe traveled to Giuseppe's hometown of Terrasini, where Brenda met his extended family and experienced the place that holds so many of his childhood memories. Soon after, they visited Brenda’s hometown of Licata, only two hours away. Where Giuseppe walked the streets where she grew up. Sharing those pieces of our past brought us even closer together and deepened our connection.

This past year, Brenda and Giuseppe returned to Terrasini. With both of our families present, Giuseppe asked Brenda to spend forever with him. It was emotional, joyful, and perfectly reflected the importance of family and tradition in our relationship.

Now, we’re overjoyed to return and say our “I do’s” in the same beautiful town. We can’t wait to share this next chapter with all of you!
